Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part is the seventh principle of Unitarian Universalism. Interdependence is also one of the few principles that is carried over into the Article II revision on purpose and principles. At this service, we’ll explore how the Religious Naturalism movement is a source for inspiration on how to live into this spiritual value. My professor at United Theological Seminary, Demian Wheeler, uses a sentence to define Religious Naturalism. “It is a perspective that regards nature as exhaustive of all reality AND deserving of deep reverence.” In other words, nature is all there is and it is possible, and perhaps desirable, to be spiritually fulfilled on a naturalistic basis. A naturalistic basis there is no split between nature and humanity.
