Erika Vye who serves on the Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative leadership team, an organization that brings together schools and community partners to prepare K-12 students to become knowledgeable citizens and stewards of the Lake Superior watershed, will speak. Students plan and conduct stewardship projects at their schools and in their communities. The Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative is part of the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative and one of six hubs across Michigan.
Erika Vye is a geosciences research scientist at the Great Lakes Research Center at Michigan Tech with a focus on geoheritage. She works with many community partners as a geoscience educator and outreach specialist focused on formal and informal place-based education initiatives that help broaden earth science and Great Lakes literacy.
