Bill Bailey, president of the nonprofit https://www.cheqbayrenewables.org/, will speak on "Grassroots Solar." Cheq Bay Renewables has successfully turned the unlikely snowbelt region of northern Wisconsin into a renewable energy hub and achieved state-wide recognition. Learn how a simple grassroots organization with limited budget and resources successfully engaged with the community to implement multiple solar photovoltaics (PV) projects, advanced microgrid technology and now, electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Is this an anomaly, or can our community follow suit?
In 2023, Bill is continuing his work with the two local tribes, Bad River and Red Cliff, Bayfield County and surrounding communities to advance clean energy initiatives. He is actively engaged in bringing Federal dollars from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to the local communities to meet the area's carbon reduction goals.
